A Strong Blow
AUTHORS NOTE:
written in 2018 or 2019. This is one of my all-time favorite poems I have written. It was a school assignment but I keep it close to my heart.
A Strong Blow
Clancy Tresemer
All of a sudden,
I am snatched from the earth.
By the hand of a small child with bulging eyes.
It glances at me for a while,
Then, a strong blow spun us up high
and far away from our home.
I was spinning and gliding,
Just as fast as I was falling,
Landing softly on the maze of green.
Wetness covers my parachute,
And plunged me into darkness.
I drink and stretch,
Until I feel the warmth of the sun,
I am now part of the maze.
An unrecognizable blade in the warm air.
Soon, I am bigger than the rest.
More noticeable, now even.
Hard and heavy bullets hit me hard,
As I feel the same wetness as before,
Only now it is more aggravating.
My beaten down body straightens,
And is back to the way it was before.
My bud is prepared to face the dangers of the sun,
And it takes on its full form.
Then, and only then,
It falls back into the bud,
Its petals shattered from the intensity.
It tries again,
Braver this time,
And almost as soon as it came,
It is pulled from the earth,
By the hand of a small child.
