The Break Up
AUTHORS NOTE:
Written in 2020. This was an assignment where we had to write about the story behind a picture of our choice, made up of course.

The Break-Up
She walks into her apartment,
Throwing her purse in a chair,
Walking to the window.
She leans her back to the wall,
Her face is expressionless.
Her emotions were made of nothing,
Canceling each other out,
Tired of crying,
Tired of trying.
With a face stained with wet,
She stands there without moving,
Looking for an answer,
Looking for anything else.
Her heart beats as a hollow drum
Feelings she thought would stay, dropped astray.
The trust that filled her strength concaved,
At the moment she fell.
Falling,
Falling,
Falling,
Feeling the wind,
Not fighting to live,
Not fighting to lie,
The only thing that kept her going,
Is now gone.
Flashes behind her eyes,
Remind her of what once was,
The memories that left a beautiful taste,
Now turn brown and sour on her lips.
She knows it will be over,
Eventually, heal,
And start again.
